I just want to talk about how much I love my cat.

This past December, my roommate and I acquired a three month old tabby rescue named Tom. He was being fostered by a friend of my roommate. All of his siblings had been adopted, Tom was the only one left. The friend was leaving town for the holidays, so my roomie offered to cat-sit.

We fell in love with Tom immediately, he was the sweetest little boy. But a man had already filled out all the paperwork to adopt him, and would be coming to pick Tom up on the 22nd as a gift for his kids.

The 22nd came and went, the man never showed up. My roommate and I decided to take this as a sign, and on Christmas Eve we finalized Tom’s adoption papers! (And renamed him to Ringo, my roommate is huge Beatles fan!)

HERE is the video that the foster program posted!

Ringo is the first pet I’ve had as an adult, and having him has legitimately changed the way I live. I work feeding him and playing with him into my schedule. I make sure the house is safe of things he’ll try to chew on. I’m constantly stressed about his health and behavior. I imagine this is a watered down version of what all parents must feel.

But I also get so much in return. Giving him a cuddle after a long day. Talking to him when I feel lonely. He may not be an emotional support animal, but this cat is definitely supporting my emotions.

I want to hear about your pets! How have they impacted your life?

Your cat is so cute! I have a tuxedo cat named Persephone and she is the light of my life.

What a blessing! I always thought of myself to be a dog-person until I started living with my sister-in-law and brother who have cat(s). The amount of love they give you so deep and real -- cats are really underrated! I'm now the cool uncle of one cat (it used be two) and it's an absolute joy and pleasure to be around them, play with, and yes, cuddle with them especially after a long, stressful day!

So happy for you and Ringo! It was a Christmas miracle haha! Congratulations!
